Chapter 9: Global Relations

Chapter 9: Global Relations

In order to be the possible communicator for both your own professional reputation as well as the company you work for, it is imparative for you to understand various different cultures.  Before traveling to a foreign country or even meeting with someone who is from a different country, it is a good idea to do some research so that you aren’t taken back by anything that may come up.

Remember that although e-mail and telephone are great ways to communicate beyond your location that nothing replaces face-to-face communication.  Through communicating with a connection in person, it is easier to make that personal connection that can be essential in important global relations.

Once you have established a market in a foreign country it is important to understand the regulatory policies in these areas.  Once again it is important to do research to make sure that you do not offend or cross any lines while working within the foreign market.
