Friday: Ryan Lochte

If you walked past Ryan Lochte in the mall, you might think that he was a model and you would be right.  However, Ryan’s day job is as a

world-class swimmer.  Ryan Lochte often ranked as the second best swimmer in the United States, only second to the phenomenon that is Michael Phelps, but don’t put Lochte in the Phelps shadow.

Lochte attended college at the University of Florida where he essentially dominated the sport in his specialities, backstroke and individual medley.  He qualified for the Olympics in 2004 for after finishing a close second to Phelps in the 200-meter individual medley.  At the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, Lochte walked away with a gold and silver medal.  In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Ryan walked away with two golds and two bronze medals.  In 2009 for his performance at the World Championships, Locthe was awarded best male athlete at the Golden Goggle Awards.  He currently holds the world record in the 200-meter backstroke, a record which he is continually besting himself.
