Thursday: Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard has become one of the most charm men in all of professional basketball, but to his team the Orlando Magic and his opponents it isn’t his smile that causes problems on the court.  At 6 feet 11 inches and the shoulders to match, Howard has been rightly nicknamed, Superman.  In 2004, after having an outstanding high school basketball career, Howard chose to forgoe college and enter the NBA draft.    In the draft, Howard was picked first overall by the Magic.

In his rookie season, Dwight became the youngest player to ever average a double-double in the regular season.  He also became the first player to ever start all 82 games as a rookie.  His presence was irreplaceable on the court.  In the last three years, he has been the cornerstone for the Magic’s bid for the championship leading them to three consecutive division titles and one conference title.  In 2009 and 2010, Dwight also won Defensive Player of the Year.  He is continually ranked as one of the best players in the league in rebounds, blocks, field goal percentage, and free throw attempts.
